All of our concerts are required events, and add up to 30% of the student's grade in choir. Our concerts are the real application of what we work on every day in class. Not only are they a culmination of months of class work, but they are events that expose our students and families to the cultural norms and expectations of attending a formal musical performance.
Our concerts nearly always begin at 7:00, and students are expected to report to Mr. Brooks by 6:38. Concert dress for our performers is our Oswego Music polo shirt, black pants, black shoes, and black socks. I prefer "dress clothes", but don't make it a requirement. As long as everything is black, I'm happy. Polo shirts will be tucked in.
A few exceptions to the above:
If your child can not attend one of our concerts because of an unavoidable conflict, please contact me as soon as possible. I do have a handful of writing assignments students can complete that can serve as a make-up assignment. No make up assignment can fully capture or equal the experience of performing music in front of a live audience, however, so make up assignments will be graded for a maximum of 90% of the points the performance is worth.

A few exceptions to the above:
- Recital Night has mini-concerts running all evening. Performance times will be assigned as soon as possible.
- The 6th and 7th Grade performances for the East Side Festival begin earlier in the evening, and the 8th grade performance a little later, because we have multiple performances happening in the same venue on the same night.
- Fine Arts Festival takes place all day over the course of a Saturday. I'm not sure yet what 1 hour time block each choir will have to be here for, but I'll get specific times out as soon as possible.
- Since Recital Night features our students performing in small groups, those groups may choose a different performance "uniform". Their clothes must still reflect the fact that this is a formal music performance, so there will be no jeans or tennis shoes; unless they have been worn as part of the regular performance uniform, and no t-shirts.
- Our May concert is usually a bit less formal, so students will be asked to wear their Oswego Music polo shirts with blue jeans. I prefer white tennis shoes, but don't make much of a stink about footwear for this one concert.
